The World is Changing
NOUN 1. gracefulness - beautiful carriage
We stand at the edge of a great transition where autonomic systems will replace many of us. The military industrial complex leads the way, resulting in systems that have no soul. A cold hearted bias permeates our culture based upon the dystopian narrative of science fiction authors. We must become like Collodi's Geppetto and positively share the future with our technological children. Like the impoverished carpenter, we become the creator - carving off parts of our soul to create machines of love and grace.
elegance of movement, poise or balance
The maker movement embodies the very best the people can be. Creative, passionate artisans sharing their love and their work. It is our mission to help makers realise their higher performance aspirations, without a huge learning curve and while using the environment they know and understand: the Arduino ecosystem. We enable the real-time performance required to overcome the awkward, clumsy, brutish behaviour that is synonymous with amateur robotics.
precise agility, accurate inflexion
Lack of control loop processing performance and the availability of high speed, synchronised feedback leads to ungainly, uncoordinated lumbering. The complex signal processing, adaptive neural network engines, configurable control loops and special information exchange interconnections underpin the precise and subtle control of movement based upon massive sensory input. Our architecture enable this functionality as just another simple to use function in the Maker's toolbox.
composure in posture and motion
Breaking the fixed, physical shield-stacking paradigm enables any node access to the immediate status of any element in the system. Built in configurable neural nets facilitate learning based control. Massive, synchronised, robust sensor and actuator conduits based upon high speed serial bussing and configurable interconnection underlies the expandable system. Our architecture is managed using simple sketches to facilitate rapid design.
controlling forces mobilize supple and delicate attitudes
The system uses a low cost cabling strategy and affordable modules that support Arduino stacking. A single low cost SATA cable carrying high speed serial data and power eliminates cabling overheads. High speed serial capacity more than enough for both video and massive sensory data channels enables ubiquitous control to our nodes. Nodes include local battery charging, enabling localised anaerobic, peaky bursts of high power operation. An inbuilt solar charger enables independent operation if required.
